The Idaho Bass Federation (TIBF) meeting Minutes Thursday, August 16, 2012, 7:00pm.

 

            The TIBF August monthly meeting was brought to order 7:00 p.m. at J&H Sales and Marine(office), Nampa, Idaho. Those in attendance were:  Bruce Flesher, President; Steve Day-Communications; Steve Jones-Conservation Director; Tammy Shuyler-Secretary/Treasurer; Brian Ashton-Youth Director; Mark Roberts-Idaho Bass Anglers; Tom Horrace-Snake River Bassmasters; Davahn Sensourghino-Idaho Bassmasters; David Ashton-Idaho Bassmasters; Phone-Scyler Hill-Magic Valley Bassmasters

Secretary-Treasurer Report-Tammy Shuyler

  • Minutes approved
  • Treasurer Report covered
  • Expenses for appreciation plaques and Youth Championship reimbursed to Steve Day and Brian Ashton respectively.
  • One more $25 check collected for TIBF Shirt. 

Youth Report-Brian Ashton

  • Brian reported on the NGJWC event at Lake Lanier, Gainesville, Georgia, which he accompanied with youth Jon Hickey and Carson Miller along with their parents.  He participated in several meetings during the Championship and brought home new ideas for future Youth Program planning.  Jon and Carson represented Idaho well while participating in the Championship tournament on Lake Lanier.  TIBF can be proud of these two outstanding youth.
  • Brian states that the Solar Bat glasses have been a successful fundraising event for other States and funding the Youth funds.  He will see that this effort is initiated for the TIBF youth fund.
  • Future planning TIBF Youth Championship:  Brian will draft 2013 Youth TIBF Championship rules and guidelines and is seeking all feedback and input.  He will share initial draft for review in advance of September Board meeting.

Conservation Report-Steve Jones

  • Lake Lowell CCCP planning meeting:  No news on meeting date and time.  A location is tentatively set for Deer Flat Wildlife Refuge Center.
  • Lowrance Book-Steve Jones is seeking photos accompanied by bullet point summaries.  Deadline is Spring, 2013.  A $500 Lowrance product will be awarded to State with best presentation.

Communication Report-Steve Day

  • Steve reports the Magic Valley Bassmaster website is under construction.
  • Sponsor appreciation placques complete and mailed to sponsors. Steve was reimbursed for his expenses.
  • Steve Day is offering to TIBF member clubs to create and maintain club websites. Annual cost $100.  
  • Members can go to TIBF website http://www.idahobassfed.com for all updates and information.
  • TIBF members have free ad space available on website.  

Tournament Report-Bruce Flesher

  • TIBF Qualifier updates:  East Qualifiers complete with Brandon Craner and Boyd Golightly finishing for position on State Team.  North and South Qualifiers will be finished the last weekend of September.
  • Bruce reported that the TBF Dream Team Rally is scheduled for September 22, 2012, at CJ Strike Reservoir which is sponsored by Idaho Bassmasters. All interested in fishing, go to www.bassfederation.com/tournaments/dream-team for information and pre-registration in the event.  A Ranger/Evinrude boat package is the top National prize in addition to other national sponsor prizes.  He emphasizes excellent opportunity to qualify for winning the top prize, a new Ranger boat, by simply participating one day in the Idaho tournament for a chance to move on to the National tournament. 

Old Business

  • Board Members jersey update- Shirts have been delivered.  Cost to each member is $25.
  • Bruce reminds the TIBF membership of the Idaho Wildlife Summit sponsored by the Idaho Department of Fish and Game.  Members may participate in person in Boise, online and at several locations throughout Idaho via video conference.  Event date is August 24-26, 2012 and participation free.  They are asking for pre-registration which can be done at http://fishandgame.idaho.gov/summit/.  TIBF members are encouraged to attend and represent the bass fishing community.
  • Cabelas invitation-Fall Great Outdoor Event set for August 18-19 and 25-26.  TIBF volunteers will man a booth on August 19. 

New Business

  • Bruce is working on a TIBF procedure manual.  He is seeking feedback and any additional information to be added to the roughdraft sent out in previous emails.  Steve Day will research availability of publishing the manual on the TIBF website.
  • 2013 Officer election update-To date, the following members have expressed their intent to run for State officer positions:  Scyler Hill and Larry Burton, Vice-President and Secretary-Treasurer only.  Jared Spicklemeir and Davahn Sensourghino will run for President.  Additional interested members should contact Bruce.  Nominations are open thru to November meeting and voting will be completed at the December meeting. 
  • Tom Horrace of Snake River Bassmasters reported that Buffalo Wild Wings of Meridian, will be making a check presentation to their club which represents their match of the SRB Youth Open raffle proceeds.  The funds received will be used for the SRN Needy Family Program.  The presentation is set for September 8, during the hours of 5-7pm. and all are encouraged to attend and support the business and Snake River BM. 
  • Scales of Justice update-Boater volunteer applications are being sought for the September 2012 event.  Volunteers just need to complete and submit their application to the Ada County Juvenile Services.
