The Idaho Bass Federation (TIBF) Meeting Minutes Thursday, August 21, 2014, 7:00pm.

The TIBF August monthly meeting was brought to order 7:00p.m. August 21, 2014, at J&H Sales and Marine, Nampa, Idaho. Those in attendance were: Davanh Sengsourinho/President-Idaho Bassmasters; Tammy Shuyler-Secretary/Treasurer-Idaho Bassmasters; Scyler Hill/Vice President-Magic Valley Bassmasters; Steve Day/Communications-Snake River Bassmasters; Brian Ashton/Youth Director-Idaho Bassmasters;Guest-Chuck Caba

Secretary-Treasurer Report-Tammy Shuyler
    • Treasurer Report
    • 293 Members have renewed 2014 dues.
    • Paid youth travel Amber Bentley & Loren Torok $800 each for TBF National Travel to Columbia SC. Brian Ashton received additional reimbursement of $405 for which he was reimbursed.

Youth Report-Brian Ashton
    • Brian reported following travelling to Columbia SC to attend the Junior World Championships. He reported the following: 2015 Championship is set for Hot Springs, Arkansas; Wateree was poor fishing; Venue poor location; 2015 will be one age group 11-15yo.; Discussion is ongoing about 2015 format with age group change ie. Boat sharing morning and afternoon, etc.; Brian attended both days of Tournament Director meetings; Big change this year was the pre-fish three days leading up to tournament day.
    • Question for membership: How should we recruit the 11-15 yo. membership for future competitions? Steve Day mentioned that the SRB Youth Opens have been successful in recruiting youth to fish the open. He notes that fishing is open to all families, whether bass fisherman or non-bass fisherman. They had 40 youth this year and they could catch 3 bass and 1 other specie.
    • Idaho Youth Championship-This year Championship was cancelled due to conflict with Nationals and no applications. Brian is planning for a June 2015 Championship to qualify to 2015 Youth Nationals.
    • Brian advises it is ok for HS and College level Youth to receive $ from tournament winnings.
    • HS Fishing participation has increased significantly from last year to this year.
    • TIBF will continue to promote HS Fishing at the upcoming 2015 Sportsman Show, through the Idaho HS Athletics or HS Points-of-Contact as well as promote the HS Scholarship opportunities.
    • CAST at Black Canyon-Volunteer boaters needed for the Aug. 16 event. They currently have 30 kids signed up and only 11 boats.

Conservation Report-Position vacant. Davanh reported.
    • Still looking for someone to fill the conservation position
    • Help rebuild the Black Canyon fishery was introduced as a possible conservation project. The fishery has been impacted by the dam rebuilding ongoing over the past year. Could the SOJ catch be transferred to Black Canyon?

Communication Report-Steve Day
    • See TIBF website for all Qualifier tournament schedules.
    • Steve Day is offering to TIBF member clubs to create and maintain club websites. Annual cost $100. Steve will be sending out his annual invoices for his services.
    • Members can go to TIBF website for all updates and information.
    • TIBF members have free ad space available on website.

Tournament Report-Davanh Sengsourinho
    • South Qualifier is scheduled for August 23-24 on CJ Strike.

Old Business:
    • 2014 TIBF/TBF/FLW Dues-TIBF member clubs are responsible for collection from individual members. Once collected, club secretary-treasurer will sign online at to create an invoice. For questions, please contact Tammy at 208-484-9278 or e-mail
    • 2015 Annual Banquet Planning-Date is scheduled for February 21, 2015. Tammy is working with Meridian Senior Citizen Center at the Meridian Village (same location as the 2014 banquet) to sign a contract for that location. Date has already been reserved with them. Continue banquet planning needs to address hiring a caterer (no response yet from Moons), bar set up and prizes. Tammy suggested that perhaps a Major Prize could be a trip for 4 to the FWC which would also be the Junior Nationals venue.

    • No new business.
