The Idaho Bass Federation (TIBF) meeting Minutes Thursday, February 17, 2011, 7:00pm.

 

            The TIBF February monthly meeting was brought to order 7:00pm. at Western Marine, Nampa, Idaho. Those in attendance were:  Bruce Flesher, President; Tammy Shuyler, Secretary-Treasurer; Steve Day-Communications; Steve Jones-Conservation Director; Brian Ashton-Youth director; John Wadsworth-IBA; Roger Sheltrown-SRBM

Youth Report-Brian Ashton

  • TBF High School Fishing tournament.  May 1, 2011, at CJ Strike. A flyer is out with additional information and will be handed out at the March Sportsman Show in Boise.   Brian reports the following additional information:  8-12 grade can participate; $25.00 entry fee; fisherman must register with Student Angler registration; go to highschoolfishing.org for more information including registration;  launch from Air Force Ramp, tournament meeting night before at Hampton Inn in Mountain Home
  • Tammy will have 200 HS Fishing flyers printed for handout at the Sportsman Show as well as a large 18x24 poster for display in TIBF Booth to promote the high school fishing events.
  • TIBF Youth Championship Cascade Res. May 21-22, 2011.  Possible ramp change to Air Force Ramp.  See applications and rules on TIBF website.  Brian reports he has great success with sponsorship commitment to the event to cover awards, trophies, BBQ and giveaways.  Brian is seeking additional ideas and sponsors for the tournament.
  • Youth fund raiser update-Since having such good success with sponsorship, no fund raisers are planned at this time.

Conservation Report-Steve Jones

  • Planning for 2011 Cascade Structure plant is ongoing.  TIBF has 600’ approximately of poly pipe and plan on purchasing more concrete blocks.  John Wadsworth advises he has a block supply available and will work out details with Bruce.   Tentative date is March 12.  Olsons will provide concrete as they have in the past.

Communication Report-Steve Day

  • Website update is complete.
  • Steve Day is offering a service to TIBF member clubs to create and maintain club websites for a $100.00 fee annually.  He has been contacted by several clubs to date to create a website.. 
  • Members can go to TIBF website http://www.idahobassfed.com for all updates and information.
  • TIBF members have free ad space available on website.

Tournament Report-Bruce Flesher

  • TIBF 2011 Qualifiers-The application is available now on the TIBF website and at Western Marine.
  • Ultimate Angler Event applications now available on TIBF website.
  • TBF National Championship- April 12-17, 2011 in Kingman, Tennessee.  Brandon Craner, boater, and Don Boeger, non-boater, will be representing Idaho.  Bruce wanted to reiterate and remind members of the discounts available thru TBF for travel including rental cars etc.
  • 2012 Northwest Divisional planning-Bruce reported that his talks with host cities has been ongoing.  Mountain Home is at the top of the list for host cities.  Best Western is willing to comp two rooms and provide the banquet room.  They also have good accommodations for parking, electrical hookups and security.  He will also be seeking a sponsor for the welcome BBQ.  The banquet will have approximately 85 people including anglers, spouses and TBF representatives.  Tournament would launch from the Air Base Ramp.

Old Business

  • Sporstman Show update-March 3-6, 2011, at Boise Expo Building.  TIBF clubs will man both booth and Reel Kids casting event.  Time slots are as follows:  IBM-Thursday PM and Saturday AM; IBA-Saturday PM; SRBM-Friday PM; TIBF State Team-Sunday PM; Still need to fill Sunday AM.  A minimum of 6 volunteers are recommended for each time slot. Badges will be available for free entry into the show but can only be picked up at show opening time, not prior to.  Bruce needs help setting up on Wednesday, March 2, at 2pm.  Steve Jones will print up photos for display in booth.  Tammy will have HS fishing flyers printed as well as a display poster.  Plastic baits are also needed to handout to kids after they participate in Reel Kid event.  Reel Kits have been shipped to Bruce.
  • TIBF Annual banquet-It is proposed that 2011 date be changed to late February, 2012, with event location in the Magic Valley, possibly Twin Falls.  Bruce is seeking feedback from all clubs and will send email to club representatives to discuss with members at their club meetings.  He asks that club reps bring the feedback to March meeting for discussion and final decision of date and location change.
  • Walleye Federation-It is projected they will have 3 clubs (6 are required) which is why they will be operating under the TIBF organization.  The Walleye clubs are otherwise up and running. 

New Business

  • Snake River Outdoor Sports Show, May 20-21, 2011, Pocatello.  Mike Iconelli will be presenting two seminars. 
  • Okuma is a new TIBF state sponsor.  They have donated 12 reels valued at $120/each.  Members voted to have reels allocated as follows:  2/Youth; 5/JackNJill; 5/TIBF Banquet.
  • Solar Bat Program is available again this year.  There are 2 sample kits and this is considered a good club fund raiser with State receiving $1 per pair sold.  Contact Bruce for a kit and any questions.
  • Lowrance has given us a non-exclusive opportunity available for State Team members only.  Lowrance is asking States to provide photo book of events with Lowrance visibly displayed as a sponsor.  Steve Jones will work on the photo book.
  • Banners-TIBF has 3 banners that can be used at events.  It was also discussed that additional banners would be nice like the butterfly banners.  Tammy will look into the cost and bring back information at next meeting.
