The Idaho Bass Federation (TIBF) meeting Minutes Thursday, June 21, 2012, 7:00pm.

 

            The TIBF June monthly meeting was brought to order 7:00 p.m. at J/H Sales & Marine (office), Nampa, Idaho. Those in attendance were:  Bruce Flesher, President; Steve Day-Communications; Steve Jones-Conservation Director; Tammy Shuyler-Secretary/Treasurer; Mark Roberts-Idaho Bass Anglers; Tom Horrace-Snake River Bassmasters; Phone-Larry Burton-Idaho Basshunters.

Secretary-Treasurer Report-Tammy Shuyler

  • Minutes approved
  • Treasurer Report covered
  • As of June 21, TIBF has about 250 members.
  • Youth travel to National Guard Jr. Championships in August has been reimbursed to Randy and Carson Miller, Brian Ashton, Jason and John Hickey totaling $2,076.

Youth Report-Brian Ashton(Bruce reported on behalf of Brian)

  • NGJWC plans are complete.
  • Brian reports there are 3 youth signed up for 11-14 yo. Division and 6 youth signed up for 15-18 yo. division to fish the TIBF Youth Championship scheduled for August 5 on Cascade Reservoir.
  • Discussion introduced to consider extending deadline closer to event date for the TIBF Youth Championship to potentially increase youth participation.

Conservation Report-Steve Jones

  • Lake Lowell Bio-Blitz event went well per Steve Day and Steve Jones. 
  • Lake Lowell CCCP planning meeting tentatively set for some time in August for TIBF members and Lake Lowell planners. 
  • Steve Jones reported that Kid's First Cast first Annual Carp Tournament was a success with approximately 3,000 lbs. of carp weighed in by contestants.

Communication Report-Steve Day

  • Soldier Appreciation web page under construction.
  • Walleye Club website on hold pending information from Walleye members.
  • Steve still needs Idaho Basshunters information to complete their website.
  • Steve Day is offering to TIBF member clubs to create and maintain club websites. Annual cost $100.  
  • Members can go to TIBF website http://www.idahobassfed.com for all updates and information.
  • TIBF members have free ad space available on website.  

Tournament Report-Bruce Flesher

  • SW Qualifiers first and second events are complete with 33 entries currently participating. The North and East qualifiers are upcoming.

Old Business

  • Board Members jerseys are currently in development by Brad Perkins of Dry Creek Outfitters.  The shirts will be delivered at the next Board meeting in July.  Cost to each member for a shirt will be $25.  TIBF will pay for the printing on shirts.
  • 2013 TIBF Officers-Bruce is encouraging Idaho members to think about future officer elections. Interested individuals should plan to attend a couple of the board meetings to get a feel for what transpires during the meetings. It was proposed by the attendees that an operating guideline/agreement be established for future elected officials to ensure as smooth of a transition as possible. 
  • Steve Day reports plaques are under construction.  He confirmed who should receive the placques and asked for input for wording.  Tammy will research and give him some ideas.
  • Lowrance book is currently under construction by Steve Jones.  Once he receives needed photos of Lowrance banners and bullet point summaries of the event from members, he will complete the book and submit to Lowrance for consideration.  TIBF is eligible to receive Lowrance equipment up to $500 value with submission of the book. 
  • Tom Horrace stated that SRB is having difficulties in tournament scheduling conflicts with other events scheduled on the major event schedule.  Tom pointed out that recent tournaments on major schedule have been rescheduled interfering with club tournaments.  As Bruce summarized, it has historically been the practice that club’s not schedule on top of Federation (both TIBF and IBFN) Qualifiers and Opens and concurs it is troubling when clubs have honored that practice in good faith and then changes are made in the major event schedule to interfere with club events. No solution introduced but this is an issue that all clubs and organizers of major events scheduled, need to consider if major event rescheduling is considered.
  • TIBF monthly meeting location will remain at J/H Sales & Marine’s office for now until further notice.

New Business

  • Tammy was able to borrow a ClearOne teleconference phone from AATronics to use during the meeting.  Larry Burton participating via phone, stated his experience was vastly improved with the use of the equipment and could hear all particpants speaking without typical static and dead air of previous meetings.  Tammy and Steve Jones will continue to research the equipment including Tammy obtaining pricing for the model used from AATronics.  Tammy emphasized purchasing via local source should be priority met with agreement as long was financially prudent.  It is the goal that a unit be purchased prior to July TIBF meeting.  A motion made and approved that  JNJ proceeds be used for purchase. An email will be sent to Board and Reps for final review and purchase of a unit.
  • Jack and Jill 2012 is in the history books.  TIBF netted $539 after expenses and payouts.  The monies will be distributed to future TIBF needs and expenditure.  Bruce suggested that the monies could be used to purchase the teleconference equipment currently being researched by Steve Jones and Tammy Shuyler.
