The Idaho Bass Federation (TIBF) November Meeting Minutes

The TIBF monthly meeting was brought to order 6:00p.m. November 13, 2014, at the Cabelas meeting room, Boise, Idaho. Those in attendance were: Davanh Sengsourinho/President-Idaho Bassmasters; Tammy Shuyler-Secretary/Treasurer-Idaho Bassmasters; Scyler Hill/Vice President-Magic Valley Bassmasters; Steve Day/Communications-Snake River Bassmasters; Hunter Hill-Magic Valley Bassmasters; Brandon Craner- Magic Valley Bassmasters and Larry Burton – Idaho Bass Hunters

Youth Report-Brian Ashton
    • Youth Championship-There will be two tournaments. June 13, 2015 to qualify for 2015 Junior Nationals and June 14, 2015, to qualify for 2016 Junior Nationals.
    • Brian continues to work with State of Idaho for grant money at Cascade Res. for the State Championship.
    • High School Fishing – High School State Championship date is set for June 28, 2015, at CJ Strike Reservoir.

Conservation Report-Position vacant. (interested Member sought to fill position) Davanh reported.
    • The CJ Strike Black Sands launch ramp will be undergoing renovation in cooperation with IDF&G and Owyhee County. See the TIBF website for uploaded information regarding the project.
    • Scyler Hill advises that the Norco oxygen bottle on the Fish and Game Release Boat used in Idaho’s tournaments is registered in his name. This is important to be known if someone other than Scyler fills the tank after use.

Communication Report-Steve Day
    • Steve Day is continuing to attend and represent TIBF at the ISCAC meetings.
    • Steve Day is offering to TIBF member clubs to create and maintain club websites. Annual cost $100. Steve will be sending out his annual invoices for his services.
    • Members can go to TIBF website www.idahobassfed.com for all updates and information.
    • TIBF members have free ad space available on website.

Tournament Report-Davanh Sengsourinho
    • A decision was made after additional discussion to not change the current Qualifier format leaving each Division to hold respective Qualifiers. There will continue to be North, South and East Qualifiers. Brandon and Scyler have both stated East members are assuring them they will be fishing in the 2015 Qualifiers and attendance should be improved over 2014.

Old Business:
    • Major event/tournament scheduling meeting is set for Thursday, November 13, in the Cabelas Meeting Room, Boise store. Meeting time is 7pm.
    • 2015 Sportsman Show: Show date is March 5-8, 2015 at Expo Center, Boise. Davanh will be registering TIBF for show. Volunteer schedule is following: SRB Friday night, Saturday slot is pending, and State Team is scheduled for Sunday. Davanh said he will work on collecting prizes for kids when they hit targets. Brian will order the fishing kits.
    • 2015 Annual Banquet planning- Date is February 21, 2015. Location is same as last year at the Meridian Village-Senior Citizen Center, Meridian, Idaho. Steve Day will order tickets to be available for disbursement at December meeting. Catering companies are being interviewed and estimates obtained. Guest Speaker search is ongoing with the assistance of John Burrow-Canyon Marine. Raffle, Major Prizes and contributions are being sought.
    • TIBF 2015 Officer nominations-President-Davanh, Vice-President-Scyler Hill and Secretary-Treasurer- Open. Conservation, Youth Director and Tournament Director are appointment positions. Officers will be elected at December meeting and will take over January 1, 2015.

New Business:
    • Chris Rambough announced a new scholarship opportunity called the Aaron Grant Memorial Scholarship for $1000. High School Juniors and Seniors may apply by contacting Chris Rambough at (208)989- 5501. The application deadline is April, 2015.
    • Tammy also reminded membership of the Idaho B.A.S.S. Federation Memorial Scholarship Endowment. This scholarship is available to students attending U of I in Moscow entering a fisheries related program. Contact is University of Idaho, Diane Gregg, Director, Phone 208-885-8920.
