November Meeting Minutes

The Idaho Bass Federation (TIBF) October Meeting Minutes The TIBF monthly meeting was brought to order 6:10pm. , November 12, 2015, at Cabela's Boise, Idaho. Those in attendance were: Davanh Sengsourinho/President-Idaho Bassmasters; Steve Day/Communications- Snake River Bassmasters; Bill Kriner-Snake River Bassmasters; Scyler Hill -Magic Valley Bassmasters; James Brandt-Mountain Home Hawg Hunters; Scott Lepka-Mountain Home Hawg Hunters; Brian Ashton, Youth.

Secretary-Treasurer Report-Tammy Shuyler not present
    •Active Members: ~360

Youth Report-Brian Ashton
    • We are still exploring and brainstorming why the low youth numbers and trying to figure out how to get the participation up.
    • 2016 Youth event dates set.
    • Loren and Tyler won the TBF High School Divisonal and are going to TBF National Championship.
    • Nancy Petross presented a program where the various clubs in the valley host a youth open tournament so that local yout anglers can get more experience fishing tournaments. This will hopefully increase Youth Championship and High School Championship participation and better prepare local youth for Regional and National level tournaments.

Conservation Report-Jason Fuller not present
    • Owyhee County Sheriff is trying to get a grant to buy a new jet boat and wants a letter of support from TIBF.
    • Joe K. from IDFG: Black Sands rampupgrade is on hold due to the Owyhee County fire repairs. They need to hire a contractor to get started and still plan on having it done by spring 2016. 2017 - 2019 fishing regulations are almost complete, there will be some changes to posession limits and slot limits in some areas. IDFG hired a U of I grad student to help with tagging and studies on smallmouthh bass movement and growth. IDFG did an electrical survey on bass in the Weiser River and found lots of small bass.

Communication Report-Steve Day
    • All Qualifier results received and State Team list is posted on the website.
    • Steve Day is offering to TIBF member clubs to create and maintain club websites. Annual cost $100. Steve will be sending out his annual invoices for his services.
    • Members can go to TIBF website for all updates and information.
    • TIBF members have free ad space available on website.

Tournament Report-Davanh Sengsourhino
    • There are changes in the TBF Qualifier program starting in 2016. Idaho is being paired with Montana for the 2017 Divisional Qualifier; 2016 Regional Qualifier is unchanged.     • 2016 South / East Qualifiers: C.J. Strike, Owyhee, and a two-day on Brownlee. North Qualifiers TBD.

Old Business:
    • 2016 Banquet planning-Tammy will contact same location as last banquet, Meridian Senior Citizen Center, to reserve a date. The Curb will be retained for the bar along with Smoky Davis to cater the event.
    • We need to arrange a guest speaker and a block of hotel rooms for the banquet.

New Business:
    • Congratulations to IBM on their win at the 2015 Snow Bowl.
    • 2016 Officer Nominations need to be turned in by next meeting. Davahn may stay for another year as president; Tammy and Scyler are done and need to be replaced by new blood.
    • Next meeting is at J/H Sales in Nampa on Thursday December 17.
